- GOLD - for the hugely impressive pairing of Helen Glover and Heather Stanning in the rowing. Our first gold of the games, and the first ever women's rowing gold for Team GB.
- Bronze - for the men's eight rowers, and Greg Searle gets another medal twenty years after he picked up gold in Barcelona along with his brother and their blubbing cox.
- GOLD and bronze - two medals in one race - the men's cycling time trial. The soon-to-be-knighted Bradley Wiggins cruised to a gold medal to go along with his Tour de France win, whilst Chris Froome got a great bronze to go with his Tour de France runners up place. Wiggins now has 7 Olympic medals - the most of any GB Olympian. Mind you, if things go well, Hoy might be challenging that soon.
- Silver - in the pool for Michael Jamieson in the 200m breaststroke, a race in which Team GB has some pedigree (Wilkie, Goodhew, Moorhouse). It took a new world record to beat him, and even then, only just.
So, more than doubled the medal total today, and in other encouraging news, Murray is through to the quarter-finals, as are the men's football team, having beaten Uruguay 1-0 this evening to top their group.
