April Pool

Back from Brighton today and very nice it is to be home.

As you may know, we've been thinking recently about whether we should move house and whether we would like to have a bit more space.

Well, one of the things that we would love to have in a new home is a swimming pool, but guess what, it turns out that houses that come with pools tend to be rather expensive.

We've also been thinking that maybe we should stay where we are and make the most of the space that we have, possibly getting a garden room built.

Well, how about this for an alternative plan? Why don't we get a pool built in our back garden? Seems like a great idea to me, but I do realise that there may be a few restrictions that we would need to place on it:

- Firstly, our garden isn't huge, is a bit thin, and because of the way that it would be difficult to remove too much earth from the site, it couldn't be too big. I estimate that we should build it with a depth to width to length ratio of 1:4:11.
- Secondly, the pool would end up being rather alarmingly close to the back door. We would have to either teach the dog to swim or ensure that she was wearing water wings whenever we let her out.
- Finally, I don't think that we would be able to use the pool in the winter, and we would probably only be able to use it each year starting on the first day of April.

To mark the fact that today is the day that inspiration has struck with this great idea, I think that it should be commemorated each year, and from now on, this day should be known as

April Pools Day.

(Dad - this one is for you. I could have written a rather downbeat blog today, but hey, where's the fun in that. And by the way, let it be known that my sense of humour is all your fault!!! Love you.)
