Houses

The Masters is nearly here. Just been watching the fun and games that is the par 3 tournament, but the serious stuff will get under way tomorrow. Looks like Luke Donald may well win the par 3 - given the form he is in, could he be the one to break the curse - no-one has ever won the par 3 and then gone on to win the main event.

Remains an ambition of mine to go to Augusta and stake out a spot at Amen Corner for four days in April one year!

Went to the Nashenden house today. It was very nice, but didn't provide us with the wow factor, and we were a bit concerned by the remoteness, so I don't think that will be the one. We are off for another viewing of the "Big House" tomorrow. Nicky is hoping that one more look might get it out of my system.

Rumour has it that there might be a house coming onto the market along our road soon, if the street grapevine is to be believed. Could be interesting - will have to see what happens.

I read The Bridges of Madison County yesterday. Not a long book, and so ended up reading it all in one day. Can't use the corny line of the book being better than the film as I've not seen it. However, it was a good read - painted a picture of a lost America that reminded me of reading Cannery Row last year.

On this day in 2010, we went on our trip to Alcatraz. Thanks to our lack of organisation, and ignoring the dire warnings that the trips sell out early, we ended up having to take the only available tickets left which were for Alcatraz followed by an onward visit to Angel Island. Turned out to be an absolute result, as Angel Island was beautiful, and just as worthy of a visit as the main attraction.
