Day 5 - moving

Thanks for the comments folks - nice to know that the blog is being read back at home. Thanks also to Grandad for the sports update in the comment. I've seen a youtube highlight of Broad's hat-trick, and listened to the TMS commentary of just before and after tea with the Bell run out incident. Nice to see that the players finally managed to remember that in cricket, the way in which the game is played is just as important as the winning.

Anyway, this morning we took our time packing up at BLT, and left there at about half past ten. We came straight to Kidani village so that we could drop off our luggage. We didn't expect to be able to get our room straight away, but checked in anyway, and enquired about getting a room meeting the request that we had phoned through yesterday. Unfortunately, something had been lost in translation, and "close to the lobby" had ended up being recorded as "close to an elevator", and so we were allocated a room about half way down one side of the Kidani necklace.

Not ideal, but we said that we'd check back in the afternoon when we returned, and headed off to Downtown. First stop was the balloon ride, which was a new experience for all of us. Great views across Disney World, a bit reminiscent of when we had our helicopter ride a few years ago.

After our intrepid adventure, the boys wanted to go into the Harley Davidson store (which is where the Star-abilia shop used to be - I loved that one!) and had their pictures taken at the handlebars!

Further along West Side we went into Ride-Makerz (which is where the Virgin Megastore used to be - boo hoo - West Side just isn't what it used to be!) but the boys decided against making their own model cars when they started to add up the cost of each of the components.

So, off to the Marketplace end of things, and we had a good shop (Owen in particular, crossing things off his gifts to buy list!) before we went to Portobello for lunch. The food was lovely, and pretty good value too thanks to a 20% discount at lunch for Annual Passholders. Owen and I had the Penne Bolognese, Jake had a Tuscan Salumi (like pepperoni) pizza, and Nicky had the chicken farfalle.

For dessert, Nicky had the Biramisu (a tiramisu with a twist thanks to the Orlando Brewing Company), I had the Chocolate Paradis, and Jake had the White Chocolate Custard (which is a creme brulee). We'd beaten Owen with the main course, and so he declined a pudding. Mind you, when the puddings arrived, I think we all tried a little of all of them!

A little more shopping after lunch (as well as a walk to ease the full up tummies!) before coming over to Kidani, where we managed to snag a much better room, close to the lobby and handy for the pool.

This evening we've been in the pool, had some tea in our room, and the plan is to get a good night's sleep, for tomorrow we hit Universal.

By the way, as expected, the camera has been out on the balcony a great deal already since our arrival in our savannah view villa!
